ArtCHAT- A catalyst for social development

ArtCHAT is an initiative started in 2015 by KATie Hagen, a British architect and artist based in Norway. Originally run on a non-profit basis within Context AS (KATie's architectural practice), ArtCHAT is now, as of 28th september 2017 a separate non-profit organisation.

ArtCHAT uses art, artistic activities and expressive art facilitation as a tool for community development and integration.

The target group for ArtCHAT is primarily children and youth aged 10-23 years. ArtCHAT works with groups of teenagers from both the local community and those currently still waiting to be granted asylum. Through ArtCHAT's activities our teenagers will be able to gain a greater insight into their own work, gain a sense of identity and understanding of place, and a greater understanding of growing up in Norway and Norwegian culture.

ArtCHAT is an independent not-for-profit organisation. All earnings and any profits will be used for and reinvested in ArtCHAT's organisation and activities.

ArtCHAT has a formal cooperation agreement with Mandheimen asylmottak in Rjukan
